DHEA - Depression & Menopause One of the most remarkable findings about DHEA and depression comes from a human study completed by Yen and associates at the University of California, San Diego. In this study in which 50mg of DHEA given over a 6-month period restored serum DHEA levels in both men and women to youthful ranges. Thus it is possible to restore DHEA levels back to our youthful levels. DHEA and menopause For several decades now, DHEA, marketed under the name Prasterone, has been used in Europe to treat menopause related depression. In Italy a combination of Estrogen and DHEA, known as Astenile, is being used to treat hot flashes and other forms of menopausal discomfort.
